    Character Preparation

Elden Ring is known for its complex combat system and dangerous exploration areas, so the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion promises to be an extremely challenging experience. With numerous hours of new adventures and battles, it’s crucial to prepare thoroughly for all the dangers ahead. The question of what level to reach before starting Shadow of the Erdtree is relevant for many players.

    TIP

Purchase a server for your favorite game at an affordable price

Shadow of the Erdtree matches the difficulty of Elden Ring’s endgame areas, and accessing it will require facing a tough boss at the end of the game. Therefore, it is recommended to maximize your favorite weapon levels, find all Golden Seeds to upgrade your flasks, and reach an appropriate character level for the new challenges.

As with other endgame areas in Elden Ring, it’s optimal to reach at least level 120, though it is recommended to level up to 150 or even higher to be ready for all the new dangers the DLC offers. Reaching level 120 allows you to increase your Endurance and primary attack stats to soft caps, creating good conditions for fighting enemies and bosses.

Levels Matter, But They're Not the Only Factor

While character levels will help prepare for Shadow of the Erdtree, they are not the only factors affecting the adventure's difficulty. This DLC has its own leveling system using Scadutree Fragments, which can be combined at a Site of Grace to increase damage dealt and reduce damage received.

These fragments are scattered throughout the Shadowlands and play a significant role in reducing the difficulty of traversing this dangerous area. However, you can completely skip this feature if you want to maintain a high level of difficulty.

Methods for Quick Leveling Before Entering the Shadowlands

Players who have reached the end of Elden Ring and want to level up before diving into Shadow of the Erdtree can take advantage of an effective rune farming spot: the Site of Grace at the Palace Approach in Mohgwyn Palace.

After teleporting to this Site of Grace, move forward and left down the slope where there is a large number of Albinaurics to kill. Most of them are passive to attacks, providing various options for taking them down. The best method is to use an AOE spell to quickly eliminate all enemies, then return to the Site of Grace to rest and repeat the process. This yields thousands of runes per run, making this spot one of the best for rune farming in the game.

Additionally, equipping the Gold Scarab talisman (found in the Abandoned Cave in Caelid) further increases the number of runes earned per farming run. Efficiency is key.

You can level up your character to the desired level before starting Shadow of the Erdtree. While levels above 150 may prove unnecessary, it is recommended to stop between levels 120-150 to be ready for the Shadowlands without over-leveling.

I’m Mr.Brauwn, and I’ve been part of the Minecraft world for over 10 years. Like many others, I started playing with friends in the early versions, but soon I discovered that servers had enormous potential to create unique experiences. Servers and Projects Over time, I specialized in creating custom servers, developing private projects, events, and collaborations with content creators. Configuring plugins, designing systems, and shaping communities quickly became an essential part of my daily life. The Leap into Content Creation After so many years working on servers, I realized I could also share all that knowledge and those experiences visually. That’s how I started streaming on Twitch, showcasing my own servers and playing on them with the community. From Twitch to YouTube Later on, I understood that this content shouldn’t only remain in livestreams. I decided to launch my YouTube channel, where I share curiosities, tutorials, plugin reviews, updates, and technical aspects of Minecraft. It’s a space for other players and creators to discover the same potential I once found in this game. What Minecraft Means to Me For me, Minecraft is more than just a game. It’s a part of my daily life: recording, editing, testing mods, configuring plugins, building, and sharing with my community. After more than a decade, my goal remains the same: to create, inspire, and enjoy this infinite world alongside everyone who joins me on the adventure.
