In best Minecraft server hostings, traveling on foot is just the beginning. Mounts make your experiences more exciting by letting you do things like cross grassy plains, explore the fiery Nether, or even soar through the skies on a rare flying companion. This guide goes over all the main rideable animals, tells you how to tame or care for them.
How to Tame: Approach the horse with an empty hand and right-click to mount. It will buck you off repeatedly. Keep getting back on until hearts appear — this means it’s tamed. Feeding sugar, wheat, apples, golden apples, or golden carrots makes the horse more willing.
How to Ride: Equip a saddle to control your horse. You can also add horse armor for extra protection.
Breeding: Two tamed horses can be bred with golden apples or golden carrots.
Donkey
Where to Find: Plains biomes.
How to Tame: Same as a horse — mount until hearts appear.
Special Feature: Donkeys can carry a chest, giving you extra storage during long trips.
Breeding: Feed two tamed donkeys golden apples or golden carrots.
Mule
Where to Find: Mules do not spawn naturally. You must breed a horse and a donkey.
How to Tame: Like horses and donkeys, mount until tamed.
Special Feature: Like donkeys, mules can carry chests for storage.
Breeding: Mules cannot breed with other mules — you must breed new ones by crossing horses and donkeys.
Where to Find: Most grassy biomes, villages, and farms.
How to Ride: Pigs cannot be tamed but can be controlled when saddled. Put a saddle on a pig, then hold a carrot on a stick to steer. Use the stick to boost speed.
Breeding: Feed pigs carrots, potatoes, or beetroots to breed them.
Camel
Where to Find: Desert villages.
How to Ride: Camels don’t need taming. Just place a saddle on them. Camels can carry two players at once, making them perfect for co-op adventures. They also have a special dash move that lets them cross gaps or rivers easily.
Breeding: Feed two camels a cactus each.
Skeleton Horse - Rare
Where to Find: Skeleton Horses only appear during a rare event called a Skeleton Trap — during thunderstorms, lightning can spawn a Skeleton Horse Trap, which splits into a mounted skeleton horse with a rider. Defeat the skeleton rider, and the horse remains.
How to Tame: No taming needed — once the rider is gone, the skeleton horse is automatically rideable.
How to Ride: Place a saddle on it to control direction and speed. Skeleton Horses can travel underwater without drowning — a unique perk among mounts.
Breeding: Skeleton Horses cannot be bred in vanilla Minecraft.
Strider - Lava Mounts
Where to Find: Nether lava lakes.
How to Ride: Striders don’t need taming. Place a saddle on a strider, then hold a warped fungus on a stick to steer it safely across lava. They’re the only passive mob that lets you walk over lava pools — a must for Nether explorers.
Breeding: Feed two striders warped fungus to breed a baby strider.
Happy Ghast - Flying Mount
IMPORTANT
The Happy Ghast is a brand-new friendly flying mob added in the 1.21.6 "Chase the Skies" update, giving players a true air mount in vanilla Minecraft for the first time
Where to Find: Craft or find a Dried Ghast block near Nether fossils, then hydrate it in water to hatch a Ghastling.
How to Ride: Feed the Ghastling snowballs until it grows into a Happy Ghast. Equip it with a harness, then mount up to fly — it can carry up to four players at once and soars freely through the skies.
Breeding: Happy Ghasts can’t be bred, but they slowly heal over time, especially in rain or snow.
In Minecraft, players can ride Horses, Donkeys, Mules, Pigs (with a saddle and carrot on a stick), Camels (carry two players), Skeleton Horses (rare storm event), Striders (walk on lava with a warped fungus on a stick), and the new Happy Ghast (flyable, hatched from a Dried Ghast).

Hi everyone, I’m Weezzy!Minecraft has always been more than just a game for me. It’s my way to tell stories, experiment with creativity, and inspire people. I started creating content when I realized I was spending hours building complex worlds and coming up with scenarios that no one but me would ever see. I wanted to share that experience — and YouTube turned out to be the perfect place.I began learning video editing, studying storytelling techniques, and working on my narrative style. I love turning a simple game into a full-fledged story where every single day of survival feels like a mini-adventure.My favorite series is “100 Days” because it combines discipline, creativity, and challenge. To make videos like these, I have to carefully plan my actions, choose the right mods, and build a storyline that keeps viewers hooked until the very end. Some of my most popular projects are “100 Days on a Deserted Island,” “150 Days in the Cave World,” and “500 Days of Minecraft Hardcore Survival.” They helped me build an active and loyal community. For me, it’s not just about entertainment — I want to inspire others to be creative. I often get messages from viewers who say my videos made them fall in love with Minecraft again, or even try Hardcore mode for the first time. That’s the best reward I could ask for.My main goal is to create content that gives people a sense of adventure and progress. What I love about Minecraft is that it’s a limitless world, where I can start a brand-new story with my audience every time — trying wild ideas, exploring unusual biomes, fighting bosses, and building unique worlds.I don’t just play — I’ve learned video editing, sound design, scripting, and even a bit of graphic work. This has turned into a real profession, and I’m proud of it. I see my channel as a place where viewers can take a break from their daily routine, laugh, feel the danger and the victories right alongside me.I love what I do, and I’m not planning to stop. There are so many more ideas ahead — new worlds, tougher challenges, and even more adventures.
