Sometimes, a new game revolutionizes the often underappreciated VR space, proving that virtual reality headsets are more than just a passing trend. Could Batman: Arkham Shadow be that game? Here’s everything you need to know.
Early reviews suggest that, much like Half-Life: Alyx, Batman: Arkham Shadow has the potential to be a groundbreaking VR experience. It offers players the chance to step into the shoes of the world’s greatest detective, unraveling a new mystery in Gotham City—and, of course, battling villains along the way. If you’re intrigued by Batman: Arkham Shadow, let’s dive into the key details.
Is Batman: Arkham Shadow a Continuation of the Series?
It’s been a long time since the last game in the Arkham series, so fans will be delighted to know that Batman: Arkham Shadow takes place in the same universe.
The story is set between the events of Batman: Arkham Origins and Batman: Arkham Asylum. In this installment, you once again take on the role of the Dark Knight to protect Gotham from a new threat, Rat King. This new villain has kidnapped several key city officials and plans to execute them, leaving Batman with just a week to save them and restore justice.
Although the game is part of the broader Arkham universe, you don’t need to have played the previous games in the series. While fans of the franchise will recognize references to earlier events, Batman: Arkham Shadow is a standalone Gotham adventure that doesn’t require prior knowledge.
Which Studio Developed Batman: Arkham Shadow?
Batman: Arkham Shadow was developed by Camouflaj, a studio now owned by Meta. They also created the PSVR-exclusive Iron Man VR in 2020, which was well-received by players. Before Meta acquired them for VR projects, Camouflaj developed the episodic stealth game République.
What Platforms Is Batman: Arkham Shadow Available On?
This VR adventure is exclusively available on the Meta Quest 3 headset. So far, there’s been no announcement about the game’s availability on other platforms, such as PlayStation VR2. Given that Camouflaj is now part of Meta, expanding to other VR systems seems unlikely. If you want to play the game, Meta Quest 3 is your only option for the foreseeable future.
However, there’s good news—if you purchase a Meta Quest 3 or Meta Quest 3S before April 25, 2025, Batman: Arkham Shadow will be bundled with the headset. For those interested in VR but hesitant, this could be a compelling incentive!
That said, the Meta Quest 3 is priced at $499. Alternatively, the Meta Quest 3S, priced at $299, offers nearly the same technology, though with slightly reduced image sharpness and resolution.
Who Voices Batman in Batman: Arkham Shadow?
Fans will be pleased to hear that Roger Craig Smith, who voiced Batman in Arkham Origins, returns to bring the legendary character to life. Smith, also known for voicing Ezio in Assassin’s Creed and Chris Redfield in Resident Evil, is widely regarded as one of the best actors to portray Bruce Wayne and his alter ego since the tragic passing of Kevin Conroy in 2022.
The cast doesn’t stop there. Other notable actors include Elijah Wood as Scarecrow, Tara Strong as Harley Quinn, Troy Baker as Harvey Dent, and Khary Payton (famous for The Walking Dead) as The Ratcatcher. It’s truly an impressive lineup.
How Long Is Batman: Arkham Shadow?
While many VR games are short, Batman: Arkham Shadow breaks the mold. Completing the main storyline without side quests takes around 8 to 10 hours. However, for those who want to explore every corner of Gotham, collect all items, and complete unique challenges, the game can take up to 15 hours.

I’m Mr.Brauwn, and I’ve been part of the Minecraft world for over 10 years. Like many others, I started playing with friends in the early versions, but soon I discovered that servers had enormous potential to create unique experiences. Servers and Projects Over time, I specialized in creating custom servers, developing private projects, events, and collaborations with content creators. Configuring plugins, designing systems, and shaping communities quickly became an essential part of my daily life. The Leap into Content Creation After so many years working on servers, I realized I could also share all that knowledge and those experiences visually. That’s how I started streaming on Twitch, showcasing my own servers and playing on them with the community. From Twitch to YouTube Later on, I understood that this content shouldn’t only remain in livestreams. I decided to launch my YouTube channel, where I share curiosities, tutorials, plugin reviews, updates, and technical aspects of Minecraft. It’s a space for other players and creators to discover the same potential I once found in this game. What Minecraft Means to Me For me, Minecraft is more than just a game. It’s a part of my daily life: recording, editing, testing mods, configuring plugins, building, and sharing with my community. After more than a decade, my goal remains the same: to create, inspire, and enjoy this infinite world alongside everyone who joins me on the adventure.
